This lock and key are from the massive gates of the Civil War prisoner of war camp in Andersonville, Georgia. Over 1/4 of the 45,000 Union soldiers imprisoned there died of disease, starvation and exposure. Several soldiers from Allen County were imprisoned in Andersonville.
