Title:
Wildcat Baseball Trophy
Description:
When someone mentions Wildcat Baseball and its lasting effect on Fort Wayne's youth, one must think of the McMillen family and its patriarch, Mr. Dale McMillen, Sr. who was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Mac." After watching the disappointment on the faces of the children who were cut from little league tryouts, McMillen organized a league for all children who wanted to play baseball, regardless of their skill levels. Wildcat Baseball began in 1960 at ten sites using high school coaches and high school and college players as assistants. The league motto, "Everyone makes the team," clearly states the philosophy of Mr. Mac and the Wildcat Organization.
The focus of Wildcat Baseball has always been to have fun and to strengthen the skills of the players. Over the last fifty-six years, over 200,000 children have enjoyed their summers on baseball diamonds in Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.
This bobble head statue of a silver and gold ballplayer holding a bat was given for perfect attendance during the 2005 season. It features a gold base shaped as home plate with a star. On the front of the base, engraved on blue plate, the label reads "Wildcat Baseball League Perfect Attendance 2005."
