While some of the material in this book is original, much of the material for the early years is taken, without quotation marks or footnoting, from Col. Robert S. Robertson’s “History of the Organization of Allen County” found in volume II of the History of the Maumee River Basin (1905) and from B.J. Griswold’s Pictorial History of Fort Wayne (1917). The other material in this book is based on additional sources listed in the footnotes, from my personal knowledge and from information from my fellow lawyers.  Therefore, I have denoted myself as a compiler and editor, rather than an author.
