34 Star American Flag

Fort Wayne women made and presented this silk flag in 1861 to the 30th Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry. The first unit to be recruited at Camp Allen in Fort Wayne after its first months of severe fighting in which Colonel Sion S. Bass was killed. The battle torn banner was returned to Fort Wayne and replaced with a new one from the state.
