Title:
Fort Wayne Bicentennial Gateway Markers
Description:
In honor of the city's bicentennial, five monuments were erected at entry points to Fort Wayne. Encircled with ceramic tiles, each symbolizes a prominent element of the city: technology, transportation, industry, agriculture, and people and community. Each monument is inscribed "Fort Wayne -Founded on the Rivers 1794" and have a concrete representation of the three rivers.

These two ceramic tiles were created by artist Patricia Ada Hansen as test samples for the final art-works created for the "Agriculture" monument at South Lafayette and Old Decatur Road, and "People and Community" at Coldwater Road just south of Washington Center Road.
