Baptismal Gown
Description:
For many families around the "City of Churches" baptism is one of life's first great events. The Bap-tism or Christening gown is often a treasured family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. Traditionally white in color, these gowns are worn by both males and females. This particular baptismal gown was used in the same family for over 100 years from 1888 to 1990. The white cotton embroidered gown with eyelets and three tiny shell buttons at the nape was worn by forty babies.
