Dress, 1920s

Woman's chiffon dress with black and white geometric print. 1/2 inch black satin ruffles at neck, sleeves, down front, several places at hem. Wide black satin ribbon at hips. White net lining in top.

Hat, c. 1925

Black silk cloche faced with rose silk. Crown is stitched in pattern and brim is stitched around. Label: "Ecole de Dessin Francine, Paris, New York" Designed for Wolf & Dessauer, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Shoes, c. 1915-1925

Woman's black satin shoes with 1-1/2" squash heels; either side of top cut with 1-1/2" teeth laced at tip to close shoe and tie at top; very narrow; marked inside "6596." Size 5 1/2.
Description:
While the 1910's were eventful, the 1920's saw no slowing down. The Prohibition Era, and toward the end of the decade, The Great Depression, saw unprecedented changes across the nation. These years also saw more dramatic changes in women's clothing style. As hemlines rose and waistlines dropped, women's clothing continued moving in a more modern direction.
